Black Friday store credit ideas.
The best Black Friday store credit ideas give customers a reason to come back after the sale, not just a bigger discount today. Here are eight you can set up in Stork Credit before Friday 27 November, each linked to the feature that runs it.
8 ideas for BFCM 2026.
Every idea issues real Shopify store credit into the customer's own account. It shows up at checkout with no code, so there's nothing to lose in an inbox.
-
Earn now, spend later
Give credit on Black Friday orders that lands in January, when sale buyers would otherwise vanish. They come back and spend it at full price.
Set up a cashback rule with active dates of 27 to 30 November and turn on Wait before issuing. A 45-day wait puts the credit in their account around 11 January, and the credit is checked again for refunds before it's issued. Delayed credit is on Grow and Unlimited.

Pre-load your VIPs before the sale
Instead of a deeper discount code that ends up on a coupon site, drop $20 of credit straight into your best customers' accounts the week before. It's waiting for them at checkout on the day.
Export your VIP segment, add an amount and an expiry like 31 December, set

Spend-and-get thresholds over the weekend
"Spend $100, get $10. Spend $250, get $30." Thresholds lift order value without touching your prices.
Give each tier its own cashback rule with a minimum and maximum purchase amount, set active dates for the weekend, and switch promotion stacking to Best value only so nobody collects two tiers. The cart widget shows shoppers what they'll earn before they pay.

Give credit instead of an extra % off
Already at 20% off? Make the next step 10% back in credit, not 30% off. A discount comes out of today's margin. Credit only costs you when it's spent, and it's spent on a second order.
Run your own numbers in the store credit ROI calculator.

Refund to store credit, with a bonus on top
Returns season starts the moment the sale ends. Offer a little extra, like 10% more, when a customer takes a refund as store credit instead of cash. You keep the revenue, they get more to spend.
Shopify can refund to store credit natively. Add a Shopify Flow workflow that issues the bonus with Stork's Add Store Credit action.

Set an expiry before Christmas and remind them
Credit that expires on 24 December gets spent on Christmas presents. Credit that never expires gets forgotten.
Give your BFCM credit a fixed expiry date, then add a reminder rule for "7 days before expiry" on a daily schedule. Everyone with that credit gets one email on 17 December.

Pre-sale orders earn credit that lands on Black Friday
Next year, start in September. Orders in September and October earn credit that lands on Black Friday morning, so your regulars arrive with money to spend. This year, run it for orders from now until 20 November.
Build a Shopify segment of customers who ordered in that window, then a one-off scheduled automation that credits the segment at 6 am on 27 November.

Credit for reviews from the BFCM rush
You'll never have more fresh customers than in December. Ask them for a review and pay them in store credit. Zeally Herbs does exactly this.
If your review app has a Shopify Flow trigger, connect it to Stork's Add Store Credit action. If reviews come through Klaviyo, use a Klaviyo webhook instead.

Black Friday store credit questions.
When is Black Friday 2026?
Friday 27 November 2026. Cyber Monday is Monday 30 November, so most BFCM promotions run from 27 to 30 November.
Is store credit better than a discount for Black Friday?
For bringing customers back, usually yes. A discount comes off the order in front of you. Store credit costs nothing until it's spent, and it's spent on a later order, often at full price. Discounts still win for pure acquisition, so most stores mix both. Compare store credit, discount codes, gift cards and points.
Can Black Friday store credit expire?
Yes. Every Stork rule and CSV import can set expiry: never, a period after it's issued (like 60 days), or a fixed date like 24 December. Pair it with a reminder email so customers know the clock is ticking.
Do customers need an account to get store credit?
Store credit attaches to a Shopify customer record. When someone checks out as a guest, Shopify matches the order to a customer by email or creates one, and that customer is credited. They sign in with the same email to spend it. An order with no customer at all can't be credited.
Which Stork Credit plan do I need for these ideas?
Cashback rules and the Shopify Flow action work on every plan, with one active automation on Free. Scheduled credit, delayed credit, reminder emails and referral codes need Grow ($20/month) or Unlimited ($60/month). Issuing credit from Klaviyo webhooks needs Unlimited.
